The first five months of 2015 have – again! – been manic for our team and we’ve been pleased to welcome not just one but four new clients on board. With June now upon us, we wonder where the time has gone, but looking back on our coverage successes so far, we know the answer is work, work, work and wanted to share with you what we’ve been up to this year:
We hit a home run with 15 pieces of coverage between February and May about our electronics client’s new pre-compliance EMC testing chamber. The news focused around our client expanding its capabilities by investing in a brand new testing chamber to introduce EMC testing earlier in the development process for its clients. The service ensures that any problems are detected before a product goes out to external testing, so is invaluable, making this a hot topic with a range of media, including Electronics Weekly, Engineering Capacity, Evertiq, EMS Now, New Electronics, Electronic Specifier, CIE, Electronic Products & Technology, Wireless Design, EE Times and Radio Electronics. This news even went as far afield as Australia, Asia and the Netherlands.
We didn’t just sit on our laurels and enjoy this success though…no, in fact we built on this excellent run of coverage by securing five pieces of coverage – with Railway Gazette, Electronic Specifier, Panel Building & System Integration, Wireless Magazine and Railway News (Page 29) - about this client’s debut at a railways event here in Birmingham, at the NEC. We reckon it was not only our client’s imaginative stand demonstration but also the fantastic photos of it that helped with this success.
Our international Managed IT Services provider celebrated its 50th anniversary in April and we worked on securing an interview with Midlands Business Insider about its long history and evolution. The birthday news also appeared in The Business Information Portal and B’Daily Business News. The recent unpredictable UK weather then gave us a great idea to write about disaster recovery planning for this client – a topic that was a big hit – The Continuity Advisor, RiskUK and Bdaily Business News; IT and security – IT Pro Portal, Information Age, Information Security Buzz, Infosec Daily News, Professional Security, Computer Business Review; cloud computing – Cloud Computing, Business Computing World, Cloud Services World and Compare the Cloud; and data centre and networking media - Storage Networking Solutions, Networking+, BackUp Review, IT Reseller Portal, Comms Business and Data Centre Solutions.
Our information security client also saw a great return on its investment in our writing services, with coverage focused around cyber security risks and XSS vulnerabilities over the first four months of the year alone. In January, we started the year off with a blog post on the web security and hacking trends that are likely to cause problems this year. This was picked up by Banking Tech, Vigilance Security, IT Pro Portal, Business Computing World and Help Net Security. We then built on that blog post with a follow-on piece all about RansomWeb, an emerging website threat that could well outshine DDoS, data theft and defacements in 2015. This was covered by top security titles including Security Week, SC Magazine and CSO, amongst others.
We used the success of that post to then secure an interview with Forbes which resulted in not one but two articles on white hat hacking: http://www.forbes.com/sites/freddiedawson/2015/02/27/could-your-next-start-up-be-in-ethical-hacking/ and http://www.forbes.com/sites/freddiedawson/2015/02/27/hacking-why-any-business-can-be-at-risk-and-how-to-prevent-it/.
As if that wasn’t enough, we then spent March and April working on articles for the likes of SC Magazine and an interview with ISMG re: hybrid as a new growth sector within web app security testing: http://www.bankinfosecurity.com/blogs/your-employees-be-manipulated-p-1839. We also secured our client a number of comment opportunities around ongoing cyber security research he has been conducting, with The Inquirer, Security Week, IT Security Guru, Arstechnica and Network World to name just a few, and his company’s new partner program, which was announced in Channel Vision Magazine, Channelnomics, ProSecurity Zone, Financial News and ThomasNet.
And finally, our international telecoms client kept us extremely busy organising seventeen interviews at just two events in London in April. We had a nice mix of trade, IT and vertical media plus analysts speaking to this client at Mobile World Congress, including a video interview with Telecom TV. It was the same success-wise at the M2M World Congress, as our client started the day with a breakfast briefing with The Economist and ended it by appearing in a video interview. Other coverage from that event included insights in M2M Now and introductions to RCR Wireless and two analyst firms. We also got this client into an in-depth Financial Times feature looking at smart home technology.
So, as you can see, it’s been a very busy first five months for us and long may that continue!
