I thought I'd check out the queues for iPad 2 in Birmingham's Bullring and Solihull's Touchwood shopping centres and I wasn't overly shocked. I reckon at 1pm, so 4 hours before it went on sale on Friday 25 March, there were 200 people in Brum and 80 in Solihull waiting to get their mitts onto the new piece of kit.
I am considering whether to sell my iPad on ebay before its value plummets, as there are some neat new features on the iPad 2.
The display and storage options - 16, 32, and 64GB - haven't changed. The Wifi and Bluetooth specs haven't changed and I don't mind the black iPad. But now, you can get your iPad 2 in black or white. The iPad 2 processor has been improved from a 1GHz Apple A4 to a 1GHz dual-core Apple A5 oh and it's even lighter: the heaviest new iPad is 613g, and weighs in at just 601g with Wifi only. As well as lighter, it's thinner from 13.4mm down to 8.8mm, and you get not one, but two new cameras. The front camera is a VGA webcam and the back being capable of recording video at 720p is definitely a step up from having no cameras at all....and there's a cellular radio.
While I didn't queue up on Friday, I may be making an order soon.
